Awards

Awards CertificateSince their introduction in 1988, Renaissance wines have garnered more than 80 medals in international wine competitions, of which over 20 have been gold. We have received over 50 medals in 2001 and 2002 alone in both international and national competitions.

Renaissance Vineyard & Winery has won a gold medal and the Gold Trophy from the two renowned wine competitions organized during VINEXPO in Bordeaux, France: the 2001 Challenge International du Vin and the 2001 Olympiads du Vin.

At the 2001 Challenge International du Vin the gold medal won by the 2000 Renaissance Viognier was one of only four US golds (and the only California Viognier), while at the 2001 Olympiads du Vin the 2000 Viognier was one of the only two US wines to win the Gold Trophy.

VINEXPO is the most attended and prestigious international wine show in the industry. About 5,000 wines from 32 countries competed in the 2001 Challenge International du Vin at Blaye-Bourg. Of these, only 188 golds were awarded. The Olympiads du Vin is an exclusive tasting set aside for gold-medal winners at the Challenge International du Vin.

The 2000 Viognier is the fourth Renaissance wine to win a gold medal at VINEXPO. Our other golds include the acclaimed 1985 Renaissance Special Select Late Harvest Riesling, awarded in 1989, the 1988 Sauvignon Blanc and the 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon, awarded in 1991 and in 1995.

As a California winery, we are particularly proud of bringing in the highest prize, once again. Congratulations to our winemaker, French-Israeli Gideon Beinstock, who oversaw the production of both the 1991 Cabernet Sauvignon and the 2000 Viognier.
