Some of us were fortunate enough to experience a barrel tasting of the 1999 Reds with Gideon, our winemaker, last year.
Across the board, for each and every variety, we were presented with what I can only describe as voluptuous wines! The depth, concentration and abundance of fruit are unmatched by any previous vintage at this unique Estate. Mother nature truly did put its stamp of approval on this harvest! On a scale of one to ten, this vintage rates and incredible 11.5!
I can not emphasize enough the overall high quality of these wines. I could not believe I was tasting barrel samples – they’re just not supposed to be this good!
I was impressed with each wine we tried yet some were awesome: the Merlot, the Merlot Premiere Cuvee, Syrah and Syrah Premiere Cuvee, Sangiovese, Pinot Noir and the Mediterranean Red (our Grenache – Syrah blend) stand out in this already outstanding crowd! I highly recommend that you plan now to stock up with our ’99 Reds. It is likely that they will turn out to be the vintage of the century!
